Our history

Founded in 1738, in the first half of the 18th century, Quinta do Porto Nogueira was always owned by the same family until the second half of the 20th century. The current owners acquired it at the beginning of this century. For centuries, the main crop at Quinta do Porto Nogueira was vineyards, now restored and planted in their original terroirs, around the Houses and the Winery.

AOur vineyards produce on clay soils, with a natural freshness and salinity, without irrigation, unique, marked by the influence of a natural microclimate at the foot of the Serra de Todo-o-Mundo and by the proximity to the Atlantic Sea, approximately 20 km away. In the approximately 20 hectares of vineyards at Quinta do Porto Nogueira - with DOC Óbidos category - each plot of vineyard is treated and valued as unique and different, and all our wines are produced with the pleasure and well-being of those in mind. enjoy them.

White grape varieties planted: Arinto, Alvarinho, Encruzado, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay

Red grape varieties planted: Pinot Noir, Touriga Nacional

At the harvest and in the winery, we adopt a rigorous process of Choosing the Grapes that we use to produce our wines. It is a process of successive sorting that ensures that we select only the best grapes: pre-harvest picking, choosing bunches during the harvest itself, choosing bunches in the cellar and choosing berries at the table. In the fruit we use there are no greens, rotten ones, vines, insects or rubbish.

Only the best fruit is used to create our wines.

The white grapes, after being pressed, ferment in small vats. White wines age in French or American oak barrels, under fine lees, with batonnage.

The red grapes are gently crushed and macerated in lagares and fermented in small vats. Subsequently, the red wines age in French and/or American oak barrels, from the renowned cooperages Séguin Moreau and JM Gonçalves.

We only vinify our own grapes.
