Alenquer and Torres Vedras were elected EUROPEAN CITY OF WINE 2018. This award is recognition of the quality that this region has to make great wines. The two Municipalities are neighbors, and constitute the largest vineyard area in Portugal. During this Tour you will have the opportunity to observe valleys and hills of vineyards for many km, with estates that have been producing wines for several centuries and generations.

Although Alenquer and Torres border, these villages make different wines, the result of two Terriors with different characteristics. Torres Vedras has a climate marked by the Atlantic Ocean, an ideal terroir for its famous white wines of great minerality and freshness. Alenquer, as a result of being protected by the Serra do Montejunto, ensures that its grapes have a very balanced maturation, which gives its famous red wines great complexity. Alenquer wines have the capacity to age in bottles for many years.
